United Club℠ Card is a premium airline credit card designed for frequent United Airlines travelers who want more comfort, more miles, and more travel benefits. It is especially focused on people who fly United often and want access to United Club℠ locations, free checked bags, Premier Access® travel services, and valuable MileagePlus® benefits.

This is not a basic travel card. The United Club℠ Card has a premium annual fee, so it makes the most sense for travelers who can use its main features regularly. For the right United flyer, the card can bring together airport comfort, airline rewards, travel credits, and useful protections in one premium product.

How the United Club℠ Card Works

The United Club℠ Card earns MileagePlus miles on eligible purchases. These miles can be used through the United MileagePlus program for award travel and other redemption options. For travelers who already fly United, this can make the card a natural way to earn more from both airline spending and everyday purchases.

The card’s highest earning potential is tied to United purchases. Cardholders can earn 11X total miles on eligible United flights. This includes miles earned as a MileagePlus member on the primary cardmember’s fare, plus miles earned from the United Club℠ Card on the eligible United purchase.

The card also earns 5X miles on all other eligible United purchases. In addition, cardholders can earn 5X miles on prepaid hotel stays booked directly through Renowned Hotels and Resorts for United® Cardmembers.

For other spending, the card earns 2X miles on dining, including eligible delivery services, and 2X miles on other travel purchases. All other eligible purchases earn 1X mile.

New cardmembers may also qualify for a welcome offer. The current official offer allows eligible applicants to earn up to 90,000 bonus miles after qualifying activities. This includes earning miles after meeting the spending requirement and additional miles after adding an authorized user within the required timeframe.

More Advantages of the United Club℠ Card

One of the biggest advantages of the United Club℠ Card is United Club access. The card includes United Club℠ membership, which allows access for the primary cardmember and a guest, subject to current terms. This can make airport time more comfortable for frequent United travelers.

The card also includes a path to United Club All Access membership. Cardholders may unlock All Access when they reach Premier Gold status or meet the annual spending requirement listed by Chase and United. This is important because lounge access rules may vary depending on membership level.

Another strong benefit is free checked bags. The primary cardmember and one companion on the same reservation can each check a first and second standard bag for free on eligible United-operated flights, subject to the card’s rules.

Premier Access® travel services are also included where available. This can help eligible travelers move through the airport with priority check-in, security screening, boarding, and baggage handling.

The United Club℠ Card also offers more than $875 in annual partner credits. These may include credits connected to eligible hotel stays, rideshare, Avis or Budget rentals, Instacart, and JSX, depending on current terms and enrollment requirements.

Additional travel benefits include an application fee statement credit of up to $120 every four years for Global Entry, TSA PreCheck®, or NEXUS. Cardholders can also receive 25% back on eligible United inflight purchases and premium drink purchases at United Clubs.

The card has no foreign transaction fees, which can be useful for international trips and purchases made outside the United States.

Downsides of the United Club℠ Card

The biggest downside of the United Club℠ Card is the annual fee. This is a premium airline card, so it is best for people who fly United often enough to use the lounge access, checked bag benefits, credits, and other travel features.

Another downside is that much of the card’s value is tied to United. If you do not regularly fly United Airlines, you may not get the full value from the rewards program or airline-specific perks.

Some benefits also require attention. Partner credits may require enrollment, specific booking methods, or purchases through certain platforms. If you do not use those partners, the advertised value may be harder to realize.

The lounge access rules can also be more detailed than some users expect. Authorized users do not automatically receive their own United Club membership, and All Access benefits require meeting the current requirements.

Finally, carrying a balance can reduce the value of the rewards. Like most premium rewards cards, the United Club℠ Card works best for cardholders who pay on time and avoid interest charges.

United Club℠ Card Fees and Costs

The United Club℠ Card has a $695 annual fee. Because this is a significant yearly cost, applicants should compare the fee with the value they expect to receive from United Club access, checked bags, partner credits, United miles, and travel benefits.

The card currently lists a variable APR of 19.74% to 28.24%, depending on creditworthiness and other factors. If you carry a balance, interest charges can become expensive and may reduce the value of the miles earned.

A helpful travel-related cost benefit is that the card has no foreign transaction fees. Purchases made outside the United States with the card are not subject to foreign transaction fees.

Other costs may apply depending on how the account is used. Cash advances, late payments, returned payments, balance transfers, or other account activity may involve fees. Applicants should review the official pricing and terms before applying.

For frequent United travelers, the annual fee may be easier to justify if the card’s main benefits are used consistently. For occasional travelers, a lower-fee United card may be a better fit.

How to Apply for the United Club℠ Card

You can apply for the United Club℠ Card through the official Chase website. Existing Chase customers can sign in to apply faster, while new applicants may apply as guests.

During the application process, you will need to provide personal and financial information, including your name, address, Social Security number, income, employment details, and housing information. Chase will review your creditworthiness and other eligibility factors before making a decision.

Before applying, review the welcome offer, annual fee, APR, United Club access rules, checked bag benefit, partner credits, rewards structure, and bonus eligibility requirements. The card may not be available to people who already have it or who received a new cardmember bonus for this card within the restricted period listed by Chase.

The United Club℠ Card can be a strong option for frequent United flyers who want airport lounge access, free checked bags, Premier Access, MileagePlus miles, and premium travel benefits. It offers a more elevated United travel experience for cardholders who can use its features regularly.

However, it may not be ideal for someone who flies United only occasionally or wants a simple no-annual-fee card. For loyal United travelers who value comfort, convenience, and miles, the United Club℠ Card is worth considering.
