College Ave Student Loans offer flexible repayment options for eligible undergraduate, graduate, and career programs.

Source: Google

College Ave Student Loans provide private education financing for eligible students and families who need help covering expenses not met by scholarships, grants, savings, federal student aid, and other resources. Depending on the program, borrowers may finance up to the school-certified cost of attendance minus other financial assistance, with a general minimum loan amount of $1,000.

The company offers loans for undergraduate, graduate, career training, parent, and specialized professional programs. Borrowers can choose between fixed and variable interest rates, several repayment terms, and different payment structures. However, approval, available rates, and loan conditions depend on creditworthiness, income, enrollment, school eligibility, and the selected product.

How College Ave Student Loans Work

College Ave markets, administers, and services private student loan products made available through participating banks, including Firstrust Bank, First Citizens Community Bank, and BTG Pactual Bank, N.A. Each loan remains subject to individual approval and the underwriting rules of the applicable lending partner.

Eligible students can use the loans for undergraduate degrees, graduate programs, career training, and selected professional programs. College Ave also offers parent loans for parents, grandparents, guardians, sponsors, and other family members who want to help finance a student’s education.

Students may request up to 100% of the institution’s certified cost of attendance, minus scholarships, grants, federal loans, and other aid. Eligible costs may include tuition, required fees, books, supplies, housing, meals, and transportation. The school reviews and certifies the requested amount before any funds are released.

Undergraduate borrowers can generally choose from four repayment approaches:

  • Full principal-and-interest payments while enrolled;
  • Interest-only payments during school;
  • Fixed monthly payments of $25;
  • Deferred payments until after leaving school.

Paying more during school can reduce the total interest charged. Deferred payments may offer short-term flexibility, but they generally increase the total cost because interest continues to accumulate.

Repayment terms depend on the program. Undergraduate, career, and standard graduate loans generally offer terms of 5, 8, 10, or 15 years. Medical, dental, law, and other eligible health-profession programs may offer terms as long as 20 years.

More Advantages of College Ave Student Loans

One advantage is the range of educational programs supported. In addition to traditional undergraduate and graduate loans, College Ave offers financing designed for MBA, medical, dental, law, veterinary, nursing, STEM, master’s, doctoral, and career-training students.

Another benefit is repayment flexibility. Borrowers can select a term and in-school payment structure based on their expected budget. A shorter term typically creates a higher monthly payment but reduces the total interest paid. A longer term can lower the monthly obligation while increasing the long-term cost.

Most undergraduate students have limited income and credit history, so they may need a creditworthy cosigner. A qualified cosigner may strengthen the application or help the student receive different terms, although approval and a lower rate are never guaranteed. Both parties share responsibility for the debt.

College Ave also provides a path to cosigner release. The primary borrower may request a release after half of the original repayment term has passed, provided the borrower satisfies income, credit, payment-history, citizenship, and residency requirements. The documented annual income must generally equal at least twice the remaining loan balance.

There is no origination fee or prepayment penalty. Borrowers may make additional payments or repay the loan early without an early-payoff charge. Eligible customers who maintain automatic payments may also receive a 0.25 percentage-point interest-rate reduction.

Cons of College Ave Student Loans

These are private student loans, so they do not automatically include the protections offered by federal student aid. Federal loans may provide income-driven repayment options, federal deferment or forbearance programs, and potential forgiveness opportunities that private products are not required to offer.

Students should complete the FAFSA and review scholarships, grants, work-study, savings, and federal loans before choosing private financing. A private student loan is generally more appropriate for a remaining funding gap.

Approval is credit-based. Students with limited income or credit history may need a cosigner, who becomes equally responsible for repayment. Missed or late payments may affect both parties’ credit histories.

Variable interest rates present another risk because they can increase after the loan is issued. A rising rate may increase the monthly payment and total borrowing cost.

College Ave also charges a late fee when the minimum payment remains unpaid for 15 days after the due date. The charge may equal 5% of the unpaid portion of the monthly payment or $25, whichever is lower.

Finally, receiving an immediate credit decision does not mean the money will be sent immediately. The application must be completed, the school must certify the loan, and the applicable cancellation period must end before disbursement. School certification may take several days or weeks.

College Ave Student Loan Rates

College Ave currently advertises undergraduate fixed APRs from 2.09% to 17.99% and variable APRs from 3.89% to 17.99%. These advertised ranges include the automatic-payment discount and were listed as valid on August 3, 2026.

The lowest advertised rates are available only to the most creditworthy applicants who select full principal-and-interest payments and the shortest eligible repayment term. The actual rate depends on the borrower’s and cosigner’s creditworthiness, income, repayment choice, loan term, academic program, and other underwriting factors.

A fixed rate remains unchanged for the life of the loan, providing more predictable payments. A variable rate may rise or fall based on a market index. Applicants should compare the APR, monthly payment, repayment period, interest accumulated during school, and total projected repayment amount.

Different graduate, professional, career, and parent products may have different APR ranges. Borrowers should review the current disclosures for the specific loan they are considering rather than assuming that the undergraduate range applies to every program.

How to Apply for College Ave Student Loans

Applicants generally must be at least 16 years old, have a Social Security number, attend an eligible U.S. school, and meet the institution’s satisfactory academic progress requirements. Approval also depends on a review of credit history and income.

International students may apply if they have a valid Social Security number and a qualified cosigner who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

The online application typically requests:

  • Contact and identification information;
  • Social Security number;
  • Estimated annual income;
  • School and program details;
  • Expected graduation date;
  • Requested loan amount;
  • Cosigner information, when applicable.

College Ave states that the application can generally be completed in approximately three minutes and may provide an immediate credit decision. After approval, the borrower and cosigner complete the required documents, and the application is sent to the school for certification.

The institution verifies enrollment, cost of attendance, and the requested amount. After certification and the six-day cancellation period, College Ave generally sends the funds directly to the school according to its disbursement schedule.

College Ave Student Loans may be useful for students who need private financing and value multiple repayment terms, in-school payment choices, and education-specific products. Still, applicants should borrow only what is necessary and compare offers from several lenders.

Before signing, review the final APR, rate type, term, monthly payment, cosigner responsibilities, late-payment rules, and total projected cost. The most suitable option is the one that covers the remaining education gap without creating an unaffordable obligation after graduation.
