Revvi Card Review: Rewards With High Fees

Revvi Card offers payment rewards and credit reporting, but applicants should compare its fees before applying.

Revvi Visa Credit Card is designed for consumers who may not have perfect credit and want access to a traditional credit card account. Issued by MRV Banks, it offers approved credit lines between $200 and $500 and reports account activity to Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.

The card also has an unusual rewards structure for this category. Cardholders may earn rewards from eligible payments made toward the account and from qualifying purchases at participating merchants. However, Revvi charges several upfront and ongoing fees, so its total cost deserves careful review.

How Does the Revvi Card Work?

Applications are completed online. Approval is not guaranteed, and the issuer determines the credit limit after reviewing the applicant’s information. When approved, the applicant must pay a one-time $95 Program Fee before the account is opened.

The assigned limit will be between $200 and $500. Because the annual fee is charged to the account when it opens, the full credit line may not be immediately available. For example, a $300 limit may begin with about $225 available after the first-year annual fee.

The card can be used for eligible purchases within the United States wherever Visa is accepted, subject to available credit and the account terms. It cannot be used outside the United States, for foreign-currency purchases, gambling transactions, or automated fuel pumps.

Cardholders can manage the account through the Revvi mobile app or online customer center. These tools allow users to make payments, view statements, check available credit, monitor rewards, and access credit monitoring powered by TransUnion.

More Revvi Card Advantages

One notable benefit is the dual rewards program. Cardholders earn rewards equal to 1% of eligible payments applied to the account balance. They may also earn up to 10% back on qualifying purchases at participating merchants, although participating stores and reward rates can change.

Rewards are tracked as points and redeemed as statement credits. Payment rewards become redeemable after the account has been open and active for at least six months and remains in good standing. Redemptions are made in 500-point increments, with 500 points equal to a $5 statement credit.

The Revvi Card also reports monthly to all three major credit bureaus. Paying on time and keeping balances manageable may help establish a positive payment history, but a higher credit score is not guaranteed.

Other useful features include:

  • A mobile account-management app
  • Free credit monitoring powered by TransUnion
  • Visa acceptance within the United States
  • Protection from qualifying unauthorized use when the issue is reported promptly
  • Automatic enrollment in the rewards program after approval and account activation

After at least 12 billing cycles, the account may be reviewed for a credit limit increase. Approval is discretionary, and a fee may apply when the cardholder accepts the increase.

Revvi Card Disadvantages

The main drawback is cost. Revvi charges a Program Fee, an annual fee, and a monthly servicing fee after the first year. These expenses can be significant compared with the relatively small credit limit.

The annual fee also reduces available credit before the first purchase. That can cause credit utilization to rise quickly, especially on a $200 or $300 credit line.

The APR is high, making the card expensive for anyone who regularly carries a balance. Rewards may offset only a small portion of the account’s overall cost, so the card should not be selected primarily for cash back.

There are also usage restrictions. The card cannot be used internationally or at automated gas pumps. In addition, rewards redeemed as statement credits do not count toward the required minimum monthly payment.

Revvi Card Fees and Interest

The Revvi Card currently carries a 35.99% APR for purchases and cash advances. A minimum interest charge of $1 may apply when interest is assessed.

Key costs include:

  • Program Fee: $95 before the account opens
  • First-year annual fee: $50 to $125, depending on the approved credit limit
  • Annual fee after the first year: $48
  • Monthly servicing fee: None during the first year; afterward, $6.25, $8.25, or $10.25 per month, depending on the credit limit
  • Cash advance fee: None during the first year; afterward, $10 or 3% of the advance, whichever is greater
  • Additional card fee: $29 annually for each additional card
  • Late or returned-payment fee: Up to $41
  • Credit limit increase fee: 25% of the approved increase
  • Optional premium card design: Up to $10

These costs may consume a meaningful portion of the initial credit line. Applicants should calculate how much usable credit will remain after the annual fee and any optional charges are applied.

How to Apply for the Revvi Card

Applicants must be U.S. residents and at least 18 years old. The online application requests information such as:

  • Full legal name
  • Residential address
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Employment status
  • Income and payment frequency
  • Estimated monthly expenses
  • Phone number
  • Checking-account status

The issuer may request additional documents to verify the applicant’s identity. Approval, the credit limit, and the final account terms depend on the issuer’s review.

After submitting the application, applicants should carefully review the credit decision and all disclosed rates, fees, and limitations. When approved, the $95 Program Fee must be paid before the account is opened and the card is issued.

The Revvi Visa Credit Card may appeal to consumers who value monthly credit bureau reporting, payment rewards, merchant offers, and mobile account tools. Still, its high fees and APR are major considerations. Comparing it with secured cards and lower-fee unsecured alternatives is essential before applying.
